Java IDE for students and the teachers who set the labs

Every student gets the same JDK, the same build setup and a real IDE in a browser tab — on a school laptop, a library PC, a Chromebook or a phone. Lessons start with code, not with installers.

  • Free for every student
  • Works on Chromebooks
  • Daily backups
public class Main {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        for (int i = 1; i <= 15; i++) {
            if (i % 15 == 0) System.out.print("FizzBuzz ");
            else if (i % 3 == 0) System.out.print("Fizz ");
            else if (i % 5 == 0) System.out.print("Buzz ");
            else System.out.print(i + " ");
        }
    }
}

Type psvm and press Tab to get the main method, then fori for the loop.

What you get

A free online Java and Kotlin IDE for classes, labs and homework. Works on school laptops and Chromebooks with no installs, any JDK from 8 to 27 and daily backups.

  • Nothing to install

    No JDK, no PATH, no IDE download and no administrator rights. A browser tab is the whole setup.

  • The JDK the course uses

    Pick any JDK from 8 to 27 per project, so assignments pinned to a version just work.

  • Real tools from day one

    Maven, Gradle, JUnit 5 tests and a step debugger — the tools used at work, not a toy editor.

  • Work from anywhere

    Projects are saved to the account and open on any computer, tablet or phone.

  • Nothing gets lost

    Local History keeps every save for 30 days, backups run daily and any project downloads as a .zip.

  • Isolated by design

    Each run happens in its own sandbox with no access to other projects and no internet access.

How it works

Under the hood

  1. 01

    For students

    Start a project in seconds, get errors explained while you type and use Alt+Enter to fix them. When the output is wrong, set a breakpoint and step through the code instead of guessing.

    Homework started on a school computer continues at home exactly where you left it.

  2. 02

    For teachers

    Share starter code as a .zip archive that students upload into a new project; it is unpacked with its folders and build files. Everyone compiles with the same JDK and the same Maven or Gradle setup, so the first lesson is not spent on installs.

    Accounts are personal and free. The Terms of Service require users to be at least 16 years old.
